  • Aims

To help create improvisation based activities such as training, workshops and Theatresports® competitions in regional and rural areas of the Hunter Valley.

    Background

A very successful two day improvisation workshop was run by Open Stage Productions in October 2008 with actors from Maitland Repertory Society. During the workshop the idea was raised about continuing with the training and to attempt to establish contact with other local theatre organisations that may be interested in Theatresports®. There are very few Impro/Theatresports® based shows in the Hunter Region and there is a gap that can be filled by running with this concept.

    Victims of Improvity
Daniel Cordeaux, Monique Dykstra and the members of Victims of Improvity, who won the inaugural Crapper Cup in July 2009

    Main Concepts

The network helps to gather people who may be interested in learning and performing Theatresports® in all areas of the Hunter Region. Using the combined resources of local groups the network is able to hold workshops, demo shows, with the major goal of running a proper Theatresports® competition. During February 2009 a Theatresports® workshop and show was run by Impro Australia at the Maitland Repertory Playhouse. This workshop brought together people of all ages from all over the Hunter for two days of skills and training taught by Daniel Cordeaux (Thank God You're Here), Monique Dykstra and Cale Bain.
